    Default Windows Stuff

Figured I'd share some useful things for anyone that likes tweaking their Windows OS.

Group Policy Administrative Templates Catalog - https://getadmx.com/ (For Windows 10 specifically (https://getadmx.com/?Category=Windows_10_2016))

Here's a reg file I put together with a bunch of fixes I found useful.

    Transparent shortcuts

For those of you that want to get rid of that annoying shortcut icon on the bottom left corner; here is a fix for it.
Put the transparent.ico file into %windir%
and then run the reg file. There is a line that I commented out in the reg, because I don't think it's necessary, but if the fix doesn't work, try un-commenting it and run the reg again.

Here is a package I created with the above tweaks along with a powershell script that removes unwanted stock Win10 applications, and modifies the start menu to add a "Control Panel" option.

Default Fix for opening up images in Windows Photo Viewer (in Win10)

I am attaching 2 registry tweaks.

I didn't make these tweaks, but i have tested them to confirm they work properly. Credits are given in the reg files.

    1. Allow you to set "Windows Photo Viewer" as the default app for Images; instead of Win10 Photos App.
    2. Removes the tweak above, if you want to revert to defaults.

Well these tweaks don't require any 3rd party applications; it's all built in which is nice; just it can be difficult finding these things some times. I've done quite a bit of the leg work already when I work on deployments and stuff for work, so I figured some of the tweaks I share (and find useful for others), I'll post on here.
I actually used these tweaks when I reformatted my machine 2 weeks ago and did a clean Win10 install.

I've never heard of rainmeter or chocolatey, thanks for the share!

I've read many posts about removing Win-10 bloatware and tbh equally number of posts to not expect huge performance gains. I've Win-10 on my 8GM RAM laptop. Win-10 (64-bit) Installed size including other stuff (like Office etc) is around 30GB. With Win-10 with no application running (at least in foreground) memory utilization is 2GB and I don’t feel any working issues.

So can someone share their personal experience about Win-10 significant performance gains after removing bloatware ?
