    Default Requesting All Sound/Audio Fixes for New (Uber)Sound Update/Expansion

    Greetings to the X-Null community! Electrickrypt reporting to duty, lol. I've come back to hang out with the MOHAA OG's with the urge to do some hardcore modding. It's obvious that I've been MIA for quite some time and tons of mods and fixes have been created. However, I have yet to see someone work on and/or release an update to the games sound effects (or ubersound.scr). This is where I plan to continue my journey of modding.

    Years ago, I spent at LEAST 25-30 hours on completely re-writing the sound.scr files that included fixes to broken sound strings, additional sounds that were never called properly or disabled and also an expansion to enable additional sound effects that are included in the game but were never used as intended. My theory is that the developers never completed the audio of the game; which is obvious if you read the .scr files. I even started to add more HD sfx (very small file sizes) to the games that were appropriate when it comes to adding depth to the audio, such as ADDITIONAL bullet zings or a couple more sounds to the rifle firing so that the couple sounds used aren't so repetitive. All of that work and data of mine was lost due to a failed HD without any backups. I was so pissed that I pretty much quit MOHAA entirely after that.

    This sfx update works on the entire MOH series via one PK3 and increases the game's depth of audio. I am now in the process of getting started on it once again as from what I recall, it worked flawlessly and I couldn't wait to finish it. What I am looking for help with is finding all of the sound fixes for the entire MOHAA series, AA, SH & BT. Of course, I have the stock Ubersounds for each of the series, but there is more to combine than just three scripts and the basic UberSound fixes. Back then, I spent a couple hours finding every (uber)sound fix and that data was also lost. There are more sources besides the one UberSound fixes. If anyone knows of any sources to download any and/or has a backup themselves, I would greatly appreciate if you share with me. I am also looking for any additional sound fixes. I know they are out there because I had many while working on this update in the past.

    Hmmm, not necessarily what I was looking for but I may be able to use the first two for references and Cobras for some possible additions as long as they are appropriate to where they aren't noticeably not from mohaa; the sounds have to blend in with the game to keep the mohaa feel. VERY important for this project. Though, from what I remember with Cobra's work, he used some sounds that were distinctly not from mohaa which is what I am avoiding. I'm mainly looking for the Ubersound fixes (SCR files). There were multiples (besides the one common Ubersound Fix) that I found in the past to where I combined them all and now having a hard time finding them today. Thanks for sharing. Will definitely look into them.

    I know that I have a hard time explaining things. There are TONS of sounds in the game that are included but were never used as intended. There are also many broken sound strings that can be fixed. That being said, there are a LOT of sounds in the game that you are not hearing and I am in the works to fix that along with increasing the depth of the different sounds such as adding more sounds to the rifle firing WITHOUT ADDING sounds that aren't included in the game. Another example, there are only about 2 or 3 grenade explosion sounds that are used in multiplayer while there are many more that can be added that are already included in the game. By adding those additional sounds (and possibly some more as long as they blend) via the sound.scr, the frequency of the grenade explosions would have a wider range, adding more depth to the game audio.

    I hope that makes more sense. lol.

    i've never seen a custom ubersound like you described, but maybe there are some on the AAAA database

    and i also found this 'not used' aliases that seems to be vestiges from quake 3
    snd_fall it get triggered when a player falls from a high place.
    dm_kill_notify plays a local sound when you kill a player
    dm_hit_notify seems to be broken

    Those ubersounds were out there. No idea where I found them. That was about four years ago while I was working on re-writing the game's sound the first time. If I can't find them, not an issue at all. Would just help speed up the process.

    As for those aliases, very EXCELLENT find! I've noticed them in the far past but that was before the knowledge that I have built now, thought nothing of it and forgot. Will be looking into those for sure! Thanks again, sir!!!!!!!!! This is exactly some of the type of information I am looking for (besides these missing ubersound fixes lol)!
