    Default Server crashes when changing map

    I thought I was crazy, but when I upgraded my box OS from Win Server 2008 R2 to 2012 R2, my server started crashing on rcon map ... changes. When the server rotates to a map on it's own, no issues happen.

    I downloaded a stock copy of the game from this site and put it on my server, used a generic server.cfg, same results.

    Interestingly enough, when I replace the x-null gamex86.dll with the one that comes stock with mohaa, I don't have any issues.

    The only thing I get in qconsole.log is this:

    Any ideas why reborn is shutting down whenever it feels like it/any ideas on how I can fix it?

    Theres not enough info to see why is crashing.

    Can you run the server with developer 3 so we can catch more info?

    I don't see much else here, just says switching to the map, then a crash.

    I use FireDaemon to convert the mohaa_server.exe to a service so I can start/stop the service from a web page and it's normally pretty good. I also tried with the Brainless control panel and get the exact same results. I'd rather stick away from something like opengamepanel that uses an agent on the VPS to start/stop exes as it can get messy.

    Happens with my install, a fresh install from x-null, tried on a different VPS install on the same hardware, tried on different hardware, tried on a different host all together, tried from my computer, it happens each time when I use the .dll from the x-null package.

    are you using an admin menu to change the maps?
    if so, try changing maps just with raw commands

    I tried with rcon menu, with rcon commands, reborn commands, voting, any time the map changes, I get the same results.

    maybe is something with the reborn update system

    try adding this to your config
    seta sv_updatedelay "9999"

    also check if this file "update_reborn.txt" gets updated when you start the server
    and the file and folder Permissions too

    It would be good to see full crash log from Windows. It can have issues because of being converted into a service.

    So everything works fine in the 2008 r2 OS, but not on 2012? Can you try running in compatibility mode; or have you tried that already?
    This is probably obvious... but I'm thinking it's the way that the application hooks into the process that is conflicting with the game and Reborn, because Reborn also hooks into the game; so maybe there is some shared function when it's loading that it's conflicting with...

    Thanks for the thought, James. I did play with compatibility settings. There are no settings directly in the service, but I can adjust the compatibility settings of FireDaemon, the program that launches the service (this was recommended by FireDaemon support as well). Unfortunately, none of the settings worked.

    This process does work flawlessly in 2008 r2, and works for the stock mohaa server in 2012, along with our other game servers/ts server. Just something about the gamex86.dll that comes with reborn (when I take this file out, it starts working - that's why im blaming this file).

    If anyone thinks having access to my vm would help, i'm happy to let you take a look.
