MMDL auto map downloader released for MOHAA

Tested it and it works great!
And the texture problem is getting fixed by VATEC soon, right HSB?

Finally we can inject some new life into MOHAA!
A syringe with some steroids and viagra should do the trick!

He released MOHAA MMDL as a stop gap for the MOHAA community he plans to re write it from scratch and include mods and fix those texture issues - he is not wanting to conflict with efforts here and he has now registered here which is great
I was looking to see if we could create an auto installer of some sort - he plans to do this anyway with the new version though

If it automatically downloads map pk3s, can it download other .pk3 files that a client might need based on a text list? This is something that will be in the reborn client, but since it's not finished or out yet... this could work in the meantime?

The interesting thing is the downloading typically requires both clientside and serverside interaction (validation). Yes the patch will have this feature built in, but we want to make sure it's as secure as possible. In other words, we wouldn't want to take any risk like the (directory exploit allowing clients to download server config). Now I'm not saying Vatec's is any less safe. His could be as good as ours if not better, but we just hit a rough spot with RR and I being busy. Also we were adding a bunch of other features into the patch not just the ability for downloading files.

Either way, Vatec is doing a great job!

MMDL for AA was plug gap I asked him to release as it runs well stable and fast

He has some great concepts I think he has some ideas in a different direction that will sort a lot of the issues out from current version of MMDL....

As always I think some times the code takes over and people have to have time outs and live and work also - just want to say every one who has contributed to MOHAA from here and the other ventures great respect to all and many thanks !!

i tested it works great... but when it fails he cant find the map and we have to add it on a database or something?

Shouldnt be miissing any maps and if it is we want them lol but yeh if its your own map or something then you can always use your own cvar to point to where your own maps are hosted also I think his new new rewrite version wont be long !!!
