Default Operating System of your Game Server ?

Questionary: On which Operating System your Game Server is running on ?

If you have more than one game server running on different platforms please post away, also if a platform not listed please post.

And another question, would your hoster switch the Operating System if you would ask him for ?

Yes I got my own dedicated server so I can put any OS on it I want, and if I pay them they do it for me.
www.worldstream.nl is my hoster, by the way a very cheap and good one.

Run a windows sever and a Ubuntu server. Both are hosted at leaseweb.com

They switch OS for free anytime and good support. Had a lot of firewall issues with windows 2008 because I had no clue. They explained and helped me out.

Hi For AAAA we are now all on 2003 for all our servers but we have run 2008 for about 6months and no issues - we only went back to 2003 as the server was upgraded.

Our host AAAA would upgrade servers OS if requested

Also AAAA would support an EU server run by members if we got support on sign-ups not ment as a plug as we are non profit but if their is enough interest for a EU hosted server (NOT IN UK) then let me know

mmmm now a thought should AAAA look into VMWARE and a likes start to give each server its own space - I have done no testing on it but its got to eat at resources but was thinking out of the box - instead of a clan getting just a game server with FTP and SCAPP access we game them a virtual server........ Soz off topic will start a thread
