Thread: Stufftext bug in new(er) version.

Default Stufftext bug in new(er) version.

Well I was just testing some custom skins with a mate on my server.
    It's running (Windows) RC3.5 internal version 1.115.

We were testing out the BA Skin Pack (previous DMW skin pack). And we already looked at a few of them.. but suddenly as soon as he picked a skin (like clicking on it to choose it) he got kicked for stufftext bypass. It only happend once and it didn't happen with that skin again.. when he reconnected he could just pick it.

This is the complete console message:
*playername* kicked for stufftext bypass #3
(Obv. *playername* is supposed to be his name which I left out)

Was just curious about what this exactly means, how it's caused and if it's a bug or not?

    Kind Regards,
    Brian

It happens when player responds with different "hash key" than he is supposed to (protection against sending malformed data to trick patch into thinking you don't have stufftext bypassed). I don't know why this has happened if your friend is clean ;p Maybe your data got mixed with his. Did it kick you as well?

Haha yeah my friend is clean for sure, he has no knowledge in cheating/hacking.
It didn't kick me.. just him as soon as he clicked on 1 of those skins to change.
(I was just in spectate mode, not doing anything just watching the skin changes like a fashion show haha.)
Only happened once and never happened again (neither to him nor to others who played on the server afterwards).

Well I wanted to just ignore it.. but figured I'd better just report it, just in case it could be useful.

It's useful. Never ever ignore anything you find strange, suspcious etc.
